Singer-songwriter Stephanie Quayle is a busy person. She’s quickly becoming country music’s next big thing after all. But even she makes it a priority to watch “Yellowstone.”

Quayle stopped by in an exclusive interview to discuss her song inspirations for her newest single “By Heart.” And you know, we had to ask her what she thinks about John Dutton and the gang. It turns out that Quayle knows a few things about Montana. She’s actually a native to the state, born and raised in Bozeman.

Stephanie Quayle is one of country music’s hottest rising stars. The songwriter turned independent singer is turning heads everywhere she goes. Quayle ranks among CMT’s Next Women of Country and Billboard’s Top 10 of Female Airplay. Her 2020 single “Whatcha Drinkin’ About” was one of the most added when it debuted with over 65 million audience impressions.

In an exclusive interview with Outsider, Quayle opened up about her new single “By Heart” and her Montana roots.

Rising country singer Stephanie Quayle is smitten by love on her brand new song, “By Heart.” The tender and groovy romantic tune narrates Quayle’s desire to know her love interest “by heart.” On the song, the Bozeman, Montana native leaves out not a single detail she wants to know about Mister Right, and delivers it over a fun and buoyant country production.

Stephanie Quayle is kicking off 2021 with new music, this time an uplifting track called “By Heart.” The song wasn’t written by Quayle, but she knew the first time she heard it — sitting in a hotel room while on the road — that she wanted to record it.

“The three writers on this song are tremendous,” Quayle gushes to Everything Nash, “Anna Vaus, Cassidy Lynn and Ian Christian. That’s how I felt the first time I heard it. I was in New Orleans, in my little hotel room, and the song got sent over to us. I just was floored immediately. And I always know if I have that chemical reaction to it; if I get those little goosebumps or whatever … I picked up my guitar and I just had to play it, and had to figure out the chords and learn all the lyrics.

Following a year of quarantines and uncertainty, Country music singer-songwriter, Stephanie Quayle, is ready to take the new year and the next chapter of her career head-on with the release of her latest single, "By Heart," available now wherever you listen to great music. The song's message highlights genuine connection and finding love and beauty in the simple things.

“There are just so many moments in this song. It's simply complex. I think that's what love is, right? Love is supposed to be simple and it's also very complex,” says Quayle. “The first time I heard 'By Heart,' I was in New Orleans in my hotel room, and I immediately grabbed my guitar, and started figuring it out by wrapping myself up in the lyrics. These words sounded like my own conversations with my husband."

Recorded almost entirely virtually during COVID-19 with producer Alex Kline, one of Nashville's most prominent female producers, this single release defines a new era in Quayle’s musical journey. This is the first release from a forthcoming collection of songs that is sure to cement her place in country music as an artist who authentically carries the genre's roots into the contemporary landscape of today. 

Stephanie will also be headed back to the Grand Ole Opry tonight where she will be performing "By Heart." The Opry presents the best in country music live every week from Nashville, Tenn. BMI partnered with the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association recently (12/15) to provide the musical entertainment at their annual membership meeting, held virtually for the first time in their 100 year history. BMI country singer and songwriter Stephanie Quayle performed a spirited set of some of her most popular songs for the group of hotel and lodging executives from across the state of Illinois. The Rebel Engine Entertainment recording artist has been a consistent presence on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and ranks in the Top 10 of Current Female Airplay over the last two years. In addition, she was recently named as one of the Next Women of Country by CMT. The IHLA provides advocacy, education and resources to the hotel industry in Illinois.

Stephanie Quayle's cover of the Christmas classic "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is nearly a duet, and it's certainly an original. Find yourself hanging on every beat during this Taste of Country premiere of her music video. The jazzy creation takes unexpected turns while never straying from its Christmas roots.

Vocally, Quayle lingers on notes you'd expect her to drop as she finishes phrases toward the end of this performance. These subtle twists make the song — a Christmas carol we've all heard thousands of times — quite unusual without sacrificing familiarity. Her steel guitarist really shines, however. From the very beginning of the video, he compliments the Montana native in the way another vocalist would, weaving between her lyrics before getting to lay down a solo that's simply enchanting.

Quayle says the challenges of 2020 inspired her to record the Christmas song.

"I think a lot of us are going to be experiencing a different kind of Christmas this year," she tells ToC. "Every time I think about this song, I think about not only coming home but also the longing to be home with my family, and just knowing that even if we can't be together, we're still together, if only in my dreams."

Bozeman, Mont., is home for Quayle. Growing up, she recalls memories of Christmas at her grandparents' cabin, strolls down Main Street and gatherings that inevitably led to singing around the piano. The career of a country singer doesn't allow for many annual traditions, but the holidays are always protected in the music industry. Now that she has her own family, she says, singing at the holidays is always a part of her Christmas tradition.

The new series will showcase artists performing a mix of hits and covers all produced exclusively for the Seacrest Studios located in children’s hospitals nationwide. Four artists participated in the first round of The Nashville Sessions: Jordan Davis (RSF Celebrity Ambassador), Kylie Morgan, Stephanie Quayle and Ben Fuller. Gibson Gives--the charitable arm of Gibson the iconic American instrument brand--has partnered with Gallatin High School in Bozeman, Montana to bring the power of music to returning students this fall. Gibson representatives and country music artist Stephanie Quayle presented the young guitar players with a donation of 24 hand-crafted, high-quality, acoustic guitars from Gibson’s famed Bozeman facility to Gallatin High School’s music department and pledged their continued support to the students.

Stephanie Quayle’s latest single, “Whatcha Drinkin ‘Bout” is still climbing the charts, from her latest If I Was a Cowboy album. Both the single and record were released in 2019, but while Stephanie has been off the road, she’s been working on new music, with plenty of time on her hands to make it exactly the way she wants it to sound.

“It’s super fun because it’s also given me time while it’s making its way up the charts to be in the creative space again, and be writing and finding and collaborating and recording,” Stephanie told Everything Nash. “Which, virtually recording is super wild. I was listening to mixes this morning, going, ‘This has been created amidst all the challenges of our time.’ And that is what’s so powerful about music. I think it’s really a time you either step into it, you lean into it, and you’re like, ‘All right, weird time for the world, let’s go.’ Or it can be very mentally paralyzing. I think that we’ve all been navigating both of those things.  I don’t know anyone that’s been like, ‘Oh no, this has been a piece of cake.’

Plattsburgh, NY – Rebel Engine Entertainment recording artist and singer-songwriter Stephanie Quayle has joined songwriter and producer Alex Kline to begin work on a new project, writing an original song for a documentary about missing and unidentified women in the United States. The song will be featured in SHE, a full-length documentary that is currently under production.

Stephanie Quayle and Alex Kline had already been creating music remotely together during the COVID-19 pandemic when they were approached about writing a song for the documentary. SHE is a full-length documentary about writer Aimée Baker’s award-winning poetry collection Doe (University of Akron Press, 2018) and her quest to give voice to the missing and unidentified women of the United States.

The film is directed by Jason Greer and Vanessa Cicarelli of Birdy & Bean Films and executive produced by Sue Vicory of Heartland Films, Inc.. The film threads together interviews with the writer Aimée Baker, details about the women she wrote about, and poems from Doe . Kate Mulgrew ( Orange is the New Black and Star Trek: Voyager ) has signed on as the film’s narrator, giving details about each case and about violence against women in the United States. Raven Goodwin ( Lovely & Amazing and Glee ) has joined the cast as well, serving as the voice of Baker’s poems. She will be joined by singer and actress Coco Jones ( H.D.W.Y. ).

Country Music Singer-Songwriter Stephanie Quayle is hanging out at the family ranch during quarantine.

She's just as comfortable on the back of a horse as she is on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. 

At Sounds Like Nashville, we pride ourselves on bringing our readers updates about the latest and greatest songs coming out of Music City. Whether it’s a new single from the biggest superstar or the debut track from a new artist, we hope to bring fans a wide range of what’s hot in country music.

Well to be determined, I’m on our farm in North Carolina, just north of Greensboro, it’s about seven hours from Nashville and so I’ve been there for the last about 100 days, which is crazy. I haven’t been in one place for this long in I think about twenty years (laughs), I’m always on the road. I’ve been doing a load of virtual concerts and virtual fan activities. I go to Nashville this week, I’ll go on Sunday and I’ll be there to record new music and do some different things there. It’ll be interesting to see how that feels, having to plan – like what door to go into the studio that no one else goes through. The part of music that I love the most is the community and us all being together, so the separate rooms that’s weird. The isolation booth for recording, yes but not being able to go back into the studio and listen as a group, it’ll all feel weird.

It's been a rough year for many since the coronavirus pandemic swept its way around the world at the start of 2020, eventually hitting the U.S. in mid-March. Country music artist, Stephanie Quayle, like many other performers, have had to shift and re-arrange their schedules once a lockdown and a new way of life was in place. However, a lingering question on everyone's minds is how will we all get back to the way things were, and how long will it take?

In an exclusive with PopCulture.com, Quayle admits she not only misses her band and is struggling with not being able to hug people, but despite the craziness, she's ready to create a new way for artists like herself to jump back in and give the fans a feeling of normalcy. "I miss my band, you know? I've been checking in on them regularly to make sure that they're good because it just went from like, we were booked for shows up until December, and it just got stopped in its tracks. So for me, It's like how do I make sure everyone's okay?" Quayle said.

Congregating in person for concerts is out of the question this spring and for the foreseeable future, so music fans have gotten used to watching performers livestream from home. What's less obvious is that segments of the Nashville music community that work out of view have been equally resourceful in finding virtual stopgaps during lockdown.

In the industry culture of Music City, fully booked and productive work days can have the appearance of neighborly socializing, so it only makes sense that many music-makers would look to shift their standard, three-hour co-writing appointments and studio sessions to videoconferencing in comfy clothes.

Among those working this way are Stephanie Quayle, a plucky, expressive country-pop singer and songwriter whose Montana roots make her partial to ranching and rodeoing imagery, and Alex Kline, the conservatory-trained composer and multi-instrumentalist producing Quayle's music.
